Think would they have room for the friendly farmer?

A new Group to promote Irish food to Irish consumers has been launched http://www.loveirishfood.ie/. Based mainly around the larger brands, its a good idea. However it would be a brilliant idea if it led to the farmers receiving a fairer price for the raw materials that go towards the making of Irish products. But as the saying goes every little helps............................

While you were Sleeping

These 9 little hero's were born @ midnight last night, and were only minutes old when this was taken, hope fully they will get the rest of the night well.

The Sawdoctors Make it big in Switzerland!

Picture the scene, a 100 head wedding - 65 French speaking Europeans and 35 Irish with varying degrees of French, set in a chateaux with a back drop on to lake Geneva in beautiful Switzerland,. A lovely slow paced day laced with romance, fine wine and the finest of food. The Swiss DJ plays the first dance, a lovely romantic number, danced gracefully by the bridal party then he clicks next on his laptop and this happens.............

The Revolution is Gathering Pace

Derek and Brendan Allen of Castlemine Farm yesterday opened their farm shop for the first time, based just outside Roscommon town (4 miles out the Sligo Road), they follow the exact same ethos as we do here at the friendly farm. Its great to see farm shops like this starting to slowly pop up around the country side, and hopefully it will lead to a network of such producers, which will give the consumer plenty of options to source genuine local farm reared food.

They lads will feature on Higher Ground the RTE TV series on start up rural enterprises hosted by rural mentors Peter Young and Paul McCarthy.
